This exceptional antique French sterling silver and enamel box has a rectangular form. The sides of the body are embellished with black enamel panels. This box is fitted with a hinged hallmarked cover ornamented with further black enamel encompassed with a crimson and maroon interlacing fret band design, all in the Art Deco style. The enamel panels are all framed by a narrow silver border and the cover incorporates a rounded thumbpiece to the anterior surface. The underside of the box is ornamented with impressive engine turned decoration which reflects a wavy concentric ring design, emanating from the centre. The interior of each compartment retains the original gilding. This French box has been independently tested using state of the art technology (Niton XL2 Analyzer) and verified as sterling silver (.925, 925/1000).
