Ugo Cipriani born in Florence in Italy on August 13, 1887, died in Paris on June 18, 1960 is an Italian sculptor, son of the sculptor Adolfo Cipriani. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, he worked with marble, terracotta, bronze and alabaster in the spirit of the Art Deco movement of the 1920s. One of his most famous works, a bronze monument dating from 1919 of the nationalist Guglielmo Oberdan, can be found in Florence on the square of the same name. In 1935, he emigrated to France to escape the fascist regime of Mussolini. He lived in Paris as a political refugee and continued to create there until his death in 1960.
