Art Deco Tiger Oak Sideboard by Charles Burt Ltd London c.1930

A substantial and attractive Art Deco tiger oak sideboard, dating from the 1920s–1930s and made by Charles Burt Ltd of London. The sideboard retains its original Charles Burt Ltd, London maker’s label together with the Nero Registered Trade Mark label. Crafted in richly figured oak, the piece has a strong period Art Deco design with a broad shaped top, carved back rail and decorative floral detailing across the front. The central section contains three drawers with carved wooden handles, flanked by two cupboard doors. Both cupboards provide useful internal shelving, making this a practical piece for storing tableware, linens, glassware or other household items. The front is particularly decorative, with carved floral blocks, shaped door panels, carved borders and substantial turned feet. The oak has an attractive warm tone with strong natural figuring throughout. A distinctive British-made sideboard with plenty of character, suitable for a dining room, living room or period interior. Condition Good vintage condition overall with wear and tear commensurate with age. There are age-related marks, scratches, small knocks and signs of use to the timber and finish.
