Description
This is an outstanding Arts & Crafts fireplace by; Yates, Haywood & Co Ltd, 95, Upper Street, London.
Works: Rotherham - Based in Rotherham this company produced cast iron works. Seldom do their items come onto the UK market.
No other identical firplace can be found except in; Modern British Domestic Architecture and Decoration edited by Charles Holme 1901. One of the best designed Arts & Crafts fireplaces your ever likely to see.

Currently untouched. Its very heavy; a two man lift. The drop in grate does have a piece missing but I have a spare grate from another period fireplace so a small piece could be welded from one onto the other. The fireback which could hold firebricks has seen better days. It could be welded or taken out. The hood is good. The front grate piece and ash cover are good. On the left hand side a few inches up looks like an open wound/crack .It can be welded from the back (or filled). One tile on the right has a crack. The fireplace may look better with other period tiles. Again its personal taste.
The fireplace can be stripped and then blackened / finished /polished. In the right house / setting this would look amazing.
