Although reclamation remains a very popular way to add character to any house (and save money), it is not exactly new. Indeed, walk around many old towns and you will find roman bricks reused in Medieval buildings and medieval glass incorporated into 18th and 19th Century windows. However reclamation does not need to be this old either and plenty of 19th and 20th Century material is just as useful. This act of recycling is naturally great for the environment but also allows us to create an appealing uniqueness to our homes that you just can’t get by buying new.
With so much old reclamation to choose from it is good that many old items can be repurposed and incorporated in entirely new ways, showing off the creativity of the owner. Since many of these products were made at a time when quality standards were higher than today, you can also rest assured that it will serve you well for many years to come. Cast iron, Stone and enamel products remain highly sought after today, as does old timber, but all parts can be useful to someone.
