Boats in the harbour by James Webb

This is a stunning example by the artist James Webb 1835-1895. This fine painting depicts boats in a harbour at low tide. The work is executed in oils on canvas and is in lovely untouched condition and is signed bottom right corner. James Webb was a painter of marine and landscape subjects. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1853 and 1888 as well as at the British Institution, Suffolk Street, the New Watercolour Society, Grosvenor Gallery and various other venues. Webb painted coastal scenes in England, Wales, Holland and France and views on the Rhine. His works can be found in the Tate Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum and most of the provincial art galleries.
