A bronze model of the soldier of Marathon by John-Jules Cortot (French 1787-1843) The soldier of marathon announcing the victory. The model depicts the Greek soldier Pheidippides who ran 26 miles from Marathon to Athens to announce a Greek battle victory. The bronze figure sits on a nicely fitted wooden base.
