Description
A quality etching of a farmer feeding his sheep in the evening from the back of a cart somewhere in the South Downs by Charles Oliver Murray (1846-1923). The perspective is particularly interesting and the foreshortening of the farmer is very good. Signed lower right. Charles O Murray was a Scotsman, born in Roxburghshire. He trained in Edinburgh but moved to London in about 1872. He became a Fellow of the Society of Painter-Etchers in 1881 and exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from 1872.
