Coty, New York 'Buckle' Double Vanity Compact

Rare 1950's Coty, New York 'Buckle' Double Vanity Compact. This super vanity compact comprises a brass body with a fabulous stylised belt buckle design on the lid. The brass outline of the belt is contrasted with a wavy textured black 'leather look' effect. Inside reveals a full length mirror in the lid and two compartments - one for rouge and one for powder. Both have there original puffs. The powder compartment is empty but the rouge is complete and has the original paper covering. The rouge looks little used - there is rouge on the rouge puff but there is still a vague outline of the Coty logo stamped into the rouge powder. There is the Coty, New York logo on the base of the compact. This rare compact comes with its original box. The box has a stylised belt surrounding the words 'Buckle, Double Vanity, Loose Powder and Rouge, Coty, New York' and under the buckle surround bottom right are the words 'Serial 1904'. On the reverse of the box is a pencil note which reads 'ILV YOU x'. The condition of this delightful novelty compact is good. There is a dent in the bottom right of the lid but it hasn't broken the black detail. There are some small areas of tarnish on the brass body. The internal mirror has an area of silvering in the centre. The rest of the mirror is useable. Both original puffs are in excellent condition - the rouge puff has some rouge at one end. The powder well opens and closes well. The compact opens well and closes with a firm click. The box is in two pieces but other than that is in excellent condition with no wear to the gold design. It has a couple of marks commensurate with age.
