I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a large showroom at Wallingford Arcade, in Wallingford between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
An amusing cariacture by George Cruikshank (1792-1878) of a couple of English tourists ogling the French courtesans of the Palais Royal and their French admirers. Subtitled "A peep at the French Monstrosities", this etching was published in 1835. British Museum label verso. Cruikshank was primarily known for his cariactures of society life, but also did book illustrations, for example for his friend, Charles Dickens. In the late 1840s, as a reformed alcoholic, he shifted his emphasis to anti-alcohol and anti-smoking cariactures and became vice President of the National Temperance League in 1856.
