Description
A very beautifully worked Diorama or Collage of Flowers in a Basket which was made in France probably as a 'reliquary' or as a wedding present. between 1820-1860.
Mounted on an oval shaped canvas covered stretcher, real dried leaves and flowers are intricately worked in with wicker basketwork, and then originally stabilized with lacquer.
The diorama was originally set into a picture frame behind glass, making a very beautiful if delicate wall hanging display.
In reasonably stable condition with some acceptable imperfections from its age.
