Early Victorian Flame Mahogany Chiffonier Cabinet

A handsome early Victorian flame mahogany chiffonier, dating to approximately c1830–1850, with beautifully figured veneers and elegant period detailing. The cabinet features a shaped raised backstand, rounded front columns, decorative carved fan motifs to the cupboard doors and traditional bun feet. The richly figured flame mahogany gives the piece an especially attractive appearance, with warm colour and an aged patina that suits both period and more eclectic interiors. Storage is provided by a long upper drawer and a pair of cupboard doors below, opening to reveal useful internal shelving. The drawer and shelves are lined, making the piece practical for use as a sideboard, drinks cabinet, hallway cabinet or general storage cupboard. Its relatively compact proportions make it particularly versatile for a hallway, living room, dining room or alcove where a full-size sideboard might be too large. The right-hand cupboard door shows some wear along the lower edge, and there is a slight gap to the centre of the backstand. These points are in keeping with the age and history of the piece and do not detract from its overall decorative appeal.
