A very good quality inlaid mahogany writing desk by Edwards and Roberts of London. Of fine construction in solid mahogany and attractive mahogany veneers. With inlaid stringing throughout. The top surmounted by a pierced brass gallery. Beneath are a pair of lift-up top stationery boxes. The lids adorned with neo-classical inlaid detailing. They open to reveal fitted interiors. The desk top is fitted with a green leather writing surface with gilt tooling to the surrounds. This desk is of break-fronted serpentine form. There is an arrangement of 5 drawers, all fitted with their original solid brass swan neck handles. The square tapering legs terminate in original brass castors and are united by under-tiers.
