Description
This beautifully executed drawing is of a large oak tree and other woodland, with a path and gate. It is pencil on wove paper. The attribution is from the formerly well known Fry Gallery, London, whose label is on the reverse of the frame. Emma Bacon was the daughter of R Bacon of Weybread in Suffolk and she married C C Atkins of Colston Hall, Norfolk, in 1846. She may have been a pupil of John Crome and this study certainly shows his influence.
