Description
This English Regency bracket clock has a twin fusee, five pillar, 8 day movement striking the hours on a bell with hour repeat. The pendulum offers micro meter regulation and can be bolted to the back plate during transportation. The mahogany case features brass inlay with fish scale side fretwork below circular brass handles. It's chamfered pediment top is surmounted by a cast brass pineapple finial.
The clock's 8 inch painted dial is set behind a cast brass bezel and convex glass. It features Roman numerals, blued steel hands and the name "Jacob Higman, St Austell". Jacob Higman is recorded in the Clockmakers Company's 1931 list of Masters and their Apprentices, as active in St Austell, in the years following 1794.
