Ernest J Stone: Watercolour "Mountain" 1932

A fresh and rather charming watercolour of an (unidentified) mountain and lake surrounded by autumnal foliage. Probably Scotland or Lake District. Signed by the artist lower left and dated 1932. London gallery label verso. Ernest J Stone was born in Falmouth in the 1870s and became a schoolmaster in London before retiring to Falmouth before World War 2. He died in 1965. A note on the frame verso says he was a prolific painter although very little information is found about him on the net. We know he also painted in oils. Very slight browning at the very edge of the painting. Otherwise excellent. Presented in a gilt wooden frame and line washed cream mount. P2584
