Ernest Pile Bucknall born 1861.Landscape artist born Liverpool.Studied art at Lambeth and South Kensington (Queens Prize for Perspective 1876)Exhibited mainly at the R.A. from 1885 where he showed 41 works but also at RBA,RI.The Walker Art Gallery,Liverpool and elsewhere. ‘ Crossing the Ford’ signed watercolour ,image size39x53cms,framed size 63x77 cms; provenance :with Fine Lines Fine Art, Shipston-on -Stour.In 1988 a watercolour,with the same title and the same dimensions, probably this watercolour,sold at Sotheby’s Bond Street for £1000.( lot 274 21st September 1988)
