St James Collectables

Each piece in my collection is chosen for its craftsmanship, authenticity, and quiet sense of history. I specialise in antique silver, maritime objects, property of a gentleman and late 19th century as well as early 20th century designs, curating items that tell the story of refined leisure and skilled workmanship.
These are objects made to be used, admired, and handed down—each one a small testament to the artistry and precision of its era.

Description
A finely carved Florentine serpentine model of the celebrated Uffizi Boar, inspired by the famed classical sculpture housed in Florence.
Executed in richly mottled green Tuscan serpentine, this charming cabinet-sized example captures the character and texture of the original Roman marble with confident, hand-carved detail. The bristled mane, naturalistic stance, and traditional oval plinth reflect the enduring Florentine hardstone carving tradition.
Produced in the early 20th century, this piece belongs to the final flourishing of Florence’s Grand Tour–inspired workshop culture — when skilled artisans continued to create classical models for discerning travellers and collectors. Unlike later mass-produced tourist examples, this sculpture retains the weight, finish, and craftsmanship of true workshop production.
Serpentine, long prized in Tuscany for its depth of colour and ability to take a soft polish, gives the piece a warmth reminiscent of antique bronze while preserving the tactile quality of carved stone.
The base is most likely a dark marble.
A decorative yet historically rooted object — ideal for a study, library, or cabinet of curiosities — and a fine example of early 20th-century Florentine craftsmanship.
