Description
Highly attractive single section tea caddy believed to be of French origin in very fine condition. All veneer and inlays are origin, complete and in excellent condition. The main veneer is Amboyna with contrasting outer veneer and cross grain bands to the top and front. Ornate incised cartouche incorporating contrasting veneer and outer ornate brass inlay. Subtle fine brass strip inlays to the edges of the cross grain bands. Angled 4 corners and please note the very slightly domes top to the lid. Original brass edging to the lid. The lid closes perfectly square. Original hinges and lock, key for decorative purposes only. Original veneer to the lid interior in excellent condition. Original lid with original turned knob, again in excellent condition. Remains of the original foil lining to the base storage and to the lid underside. Single section tea caddies were made in far less numbers than the two and three section caddies and any single caddy of such quality and degree of original features would be a very fine addition to any collection. Highly Recommended.
