George Hamilton Constantine Watercolour 'Scalby Ness, Scarborough’

George Hamilton Constantine (1878-1967), Sheffield painter of landscapes, he exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. He did not need to exhibit his works widely as there was a steady demand for it from dealers in this country and New York. In the 1930s he became assistant to Sir William Rothstein who was Professor of Civic Art at Sheffield University. Constantine became Director of the Graves Art Gallery in the 1950s.
