This example of a George III period glass has been hand blown in lead crystal. The bell bowl has been drawn into a bladed knop stem and sits above a wide conical foot with a rough pontil mark to the underside. Wessex House Antiques has clarified that the George III Wine Glass c.1770 (LA362020) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1770
The glass is in excellent condition with an unusually large number of bubbles within the body of the glass almost like soda glass, the stem and rim are also slightly wonky as if the glass blower was an apprentice rather than an experienced glass blower. Nevertheless the glass was sold and has survived the past 250 years intact.
