George Unite Antique Silver Trinket Box

This unusual but beautifully lined trinket box from the inimitable George Unite is a huge statement of quality and amply demonstrates the desire of this silversmith to move their designs on from the over elaborate Victorian work and the harsh austerity of some Edwardian design. Hallmarked for 1914. Instead this box has out-sweeping sides, sizeable ball feet, a gently rolling heavy gauge silver hinged lid and a gilt interior to the lid. Looking underneath George Unite introduce an innovative suspended containment box for the valuables within, something subsequently copied both in Britain and parts of Europe The gently rolling lid bears the monogram 'Hc'
