Georgian Brassbound Mahogany Writing Slope. A superb example of a Georgian Brassbound Mahogany writing slope dating back to c.1820. The box features a fully working lock and tasselled key with a brass key escutcheon and a brass name plate to the top with the name “W.Evans” The box has a side drawer that runs the length of the box with two Military style handles to the sides. The interior houses a green leather writing surface , a nib slope an inkwell, a lidded pen compartment and nib compartment. Behind the back of the inside lid is storage for plenty of paperwork. Underneath the writing surface there is two secret drawers. A wonderful example of a writing slope. Measuring 50 x 26 and stands 18 cm high.
