This is a hand-blown, Georgian, English, double series opaque twist stem cordial glass dating from the mid 18th century, c1765. The glass is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the base of the foot. The glass has a rounded bucket-shaped bowl measuring 5.2 cm (2.1 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is finger flute-moulded to the lower half and sits on a thick double series opaque twist stem consisting of eighteen "cotton" white enamel strands wound around a central corkscrew gauze. The stem leads to a conical foot which measures 7.7 cm (3.1 inches) in diameter. The glass is 17.9 cm (7.2 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious signs of restoration. The foot has been made with a welt to one side. Lead glass weighing in at 204 g. ( ~ 7 1/4 oz.).
