This is a Georgian, English, wrythen-moulded flammiform dwarf ale glass dating from the mid 18th century, c1760. The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to both the rim of the bowl and to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the foot which is nicely striated. The glass has a funnel-shaped bowl measuring 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is closely wrythen-moulded to the lower half with the wrythening ending at the flammiform fringe. The bowl sits on a short, wrythened inverted baluster stem and a conical, folded foot which measures 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) in diameter. The glass is 13 cm (5.2 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. It is made from lead metal weighing 126 g. (~ 4 1/2 oz.).
