Georgian Pocket Watch Chain Fob 1830s Antique Large Brass Verge Balance Cock Fob

Georgian Gentleman's very impressive and highly ornate large brass Antique verge balance cock pocket watch chain fob. C~1830s. (Please excuse the reflections in the pictures - was very difficult to photograph). Similar to the fobs I have supplied to Pinewood Studios. Measures; 4.7cm height (including the top ring), 2.1cm width and weighs a respectable 5.3 grams. Highly detailed verge balance cock which is beautifully adorned to the front with an elaborate pierced decoration of daisy flowers, swags and entwined scroll work and has a small rising sun decoration to centre (this would have been all hand made, the later Victorian balance cocks were usually solid with a machine engraving on the top). The back is slightly textured, free from any inscriptions or initials and interestingly has a few light surface scratches near to the balance screw hole which would have been done by a Georgian watch maker to heighten the balance cock as the balance pivots of the original pocket watch this came from would have been worn, thus saving the owner of the costly expense of having new balance pivots made. Robust secure large brass side and top rings to attach to a Gentleman's pocket watch chain. Excellent clean and bright condition with no wear or damage and just a tiny bit of extremely light overall patina commensurate with age (would imagine this has been suspended on a watch chain for well over 200 years).
