Description
Georgian Rosewood Brassbound Vanity Box. An exceptional example of a Georgian Rosewood Brassbound, brass inlaid gents vanity box dating back to c.1800. Featuring a brass key escutcheon with a working brahma lock and key (although the lock can be temperamental I wouldn’t trust locking it. To the top a brass escutcheon with a family crest and initials “RPF”. The box houses a wonderfully fitted interior, although it isn’t fully fitted and has a couple of pieces missing it doesn’t affect how truly wonderful the box is. It houses silver plated cut glass vanity dishes, five silver topped bottles one slightly smaller than the rest and a few with their original contents inside to the back of the box, lift the tray to reveal the different tools such as scissors, a toothpick, ear spoon, file, razors, pocket knife and pen knife, the next tray come out with space to the underneath. The back of the inside lid falls down to reveal a mirror on a stand. The box measures 32 x 24 and stands 18 cm high. A truly wonderful piece of history.
