Georgian Silver Black Dot Paste Starburst Brooch, c.1820

An attractive early 19th-century silver brooch in a bold starburst design. The central colourless black-dot paste is framed by a close-set arrangement of smaller round stones and larger pastes forming the rays. The old hand-cut facets give the stones a lively sparkle, while the black dots add the characteristic depth associated with Georgian paste jewellery. The closed-back stones are set in silver, tested as sterling. A substantial and decorative brooch, measuring 35 mm across and weighing 11.68 g.
