This is a Georgian, wrythen-moulded "Bristol" blue glass egg cup dating from the middle of the 18th century, c1760. The egg cup is in excellent condition for its age. It shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 250 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the bottom of the foot. The egg cup has an ovoid shaped-bowl measuring 4.5 cm (1.8 inches) in diameter at the everted turned inward rim. The bowl is wrythen-moulded and sits on a short extruded stem that appears to be incised due to the continuation of the wrythening from the bowl downwards. The stem leads to a conical foot which measures 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter. The egg cup is 9.5 cm (3.8 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, scratches or any obvious signs of restoration. English lead glass weighing in at 70 g. (~ 2 1/2 oz.)
