Description

This is an exceptional 18th Century antique opaque twist wine glass which has a good-sized bell bowl above a triple knop double series opaque twist stem consisting of two pairs of 3-ply spiral threads outside a gauze. One of the most elegant triple knop examples we have had. Date & Origin England, c1760. Period of George III. Historical Context:- 1760 was a busy year in Scotland with the Edinburgh City Chambers opening as the Royal Exchange designed by John Adam. Also construction of Glasgow’s new town hall is completed and the first well house was built at St Bernard's Well, Stockbridge in Edinburgh
