Previously I worked in London as a Chartered Surveyor and have been dealing in paintings for thirty years. I have exhibited at at many major antique fairs and have vetted at them when required. I live in North Yorkshire but trade from Castlegate Antiques, 1/3 Castlegate, Newark, Notts, NG24 1A2 Tel 01636 701877 where my stock can be viewed Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm. However it is advisable to ring first if wishing to view a specific item in case it is in Yorkshire. If not at Newark it can then be brought to the shop to be viewed at your convenience.

Description
Helen Cordelia Angell RI RWS 1847-1884 and William Stephen Coleman 1829-1904.Helen was a fruit,flower and bird painter. She received her first lesson in art from her brother William Stephen Coleman.She was appointed Flower Painter in Ordinairy to Queen Victoria in 1897.Just before his death in 1864 William Henry Hunt declared that Helen Cordelia Coleman was his only successor as a painter of the intense form of still life that he had invented.William Stephen Coleman 1829-1904,her brother was a figure painter and illustrator.He worked at Mintons Art Pottery and designed many tiles and plates for them.He also illustrated many books including ‘Natural History Picture Book for Children’ 1862 and ‘Out Garden Friends’1863-64.Works by him are in the V&A Museum and Glasgow Art Gallery.’Apple Blossoms in a Blue Vase ‘ watercolour signed by both artists;image size 39x25cms,framed size 56x42.5 cms.Original gilt frame with label verso.
