Indian Colonial Silver Jug - Antique c.1830

This is a magnificent, fine and impressive antique Indian colonial silver jug made by Hamilton & Co; part of our dining silverware collection This magnificent antique Indian silver jug has an oval rounded form onto a circular spreading collet style foot. The body of this impressive jug is embellished with finely chased floral and foliate decoration on a matte background, incorporating large opposing scroll designs to the posterior surface. The upper rim is encompassed with a plain applied moulded border. This impressive example of antique silverware is fitted with an exceptional cast S scrolling handle ornamented with a large scrolling leaf design to the handpiece, incorporated into the thumbpiece. The underside of this exceptional Indian silver jug features the contemporary engraved inscription 'Karen Louise' in addition to the hallmarks The interior and underside of the jug retains the original gilding; the gilding to the underside indicates the high quality of the piece.
