Description
Mid 19th Century North West India, Mewar, opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper (a couple of images showing gold details reflecting the light). The vertical composition depicting a haloed, richly dressed and pearl-adorned Raj Singh standing opposite his advisor, a grey hawk perched on his left hand covered with a glove, his other hand clenched around a gold hilted tulwar sword, a push dagger slotted into his golden belt, his advisor dressed more conservatively in red, the scene set within black and white rules, and a burgundy border, the recto with three private property stamps. The reverse of the painting identified as Raj Singh ll and presents three property stamps, respectively, Bhanwar Devendra Singh, Bh. Suraya Vijay Singh Shekhawat and Kumar Sangram Singh (ap. 3), all of Nawalgarh. These are all renowned Indian art collectors and connoisseurs.
