Description
Fine quality inlaid amboyna drop front trinket – glove box. Believed to be of French origin. Highly attractive veneer to all aspects. No missing or replaced veneer. Unspoilt patina.
Original brass stop hinges.
Original lock.
The key is for decorative purposes only but the lock has Been tested and the mechanism is in good condition. All of the interior is in excellent condition and features the original veneer throughout with a lightly padded panel to the base… all free of tears and stains. It is of course the exterior that is the main appeal.
Please note the concave sides and the multiple curves to the front of the box and though Very subtle the top of the lid is very slightly convex. Apart from less than 1.5cm of replaced brass inlay (2nd brass strip slightly in from the top front left corner) all inlays are original and complete.
Beautifully done, highly intricate with good use of three different veneers. Incised original ornate cartouche and brass edging to the lid all contribute to making this an eye catching piece of French woodenware.
