Early (possibly pre) Victorian inlaid rosewood jewellery/table box in extremely fine condition. Good quality rosewood to all aspects, all veneer original and complete. All edges keen. Ornate Mother of Pearl surrounds to the cartouche and escutcheon complemented by the inlays to the outer edges of the top and front of the box. Aside from a TINY piece of replaced Mother of Pearl to the edge of the key hole all inlays are original, complete and in superb condition. The lid closes perfectly square. Original hinges and lock with a replacement working key supplied. The interior has been neatly relined with a marble effect paper, all in spotless condition. The combination of rosewood and Mother of Pearl was extremely popular throughout most of the 1800’s and featured on boxes on all the different types of boxes. What makes this particular different from most is the recessed panels to the top and front with the ‘ball and dart’ style edge moulding, all of which is original, complete and in A1 condition. The panels certainly enhance the appearance of the item. A most attractive piece of antique woodenware in excess of 180 years old in a condition to please. Unpacked weight 1 Kg
