I specialise in affordable original artworks - mainly traditional watercolours and oil paintings but I also have a range of contemporary artworks including limited edition lithographic prints. I also stock a limited selection of antiques and collectables, including treen, ceramics and glass. I have now opened a large showroom at Wallingford Arcade, in Wallingford between Reading and Oxford, but I also trade online. My website, www.artandstuffgallery.com has a gallery section with several mini-galleries where my items are displayed, including more contemporary items not shown on LoveAntiques.

Description
This is an interesting monochrome watercolour, highlighted with white, of Windsor Castle in a rural landscape- perhaps from Windsor Great Park. It has an unfinished quality about it, as if painted quickly in situ, but the more you look at it, the more it draws you in! Signed by teh artist lower right. James Baker Pyne (1800-70) was a landscape painter, born in Bristol where he worked as a self taught artist until the age of 35. He then moved to London, exhibiting his work at the Royal Academy, British Institution and New Watercolour Society over two decades. He also travelled abroad to Italy and elsewhere in Continental Europe. He admired and was influenced by Turner.
