Description
John Henry Mole VPRI 1814-1886.Landscape painter and watercolourist .Born in Alnwick,Northumberland.Worked as clerk in a solicitors office in Newcastle ,but gave up for miniature painting.He exhibited miniatures at the RA in 1845,1846 and 1878.Later he turned to landscape ,particularly in watercolour,and exhibited at NWS(679 works),BI,SS,GG and elsewhere.Elected associate of the RI,member in 1848,and Vice-President in 1884.His studio sale was held at Christies on Feb 1st,1887. ‘ Cottage by the Sea’,signed watercolour ,dated 1864; image size 27x44cms,framed size 59x74.5 cmsHoused in an attractive period gilt frame with wash line mount.
