This is a large antique gentleman's tallboy. An English, walnut chest of drawers, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850. Striking example with beautiful figuring and fascinating cot drawer. Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout. Superb figuring to the select walnut stocks, book-matched to the fascia. Exceptional colour, with warm caramel hues beneath a wax polish finish. Classic arrangement of two short over three long drawers with graduated heights. Eye-catching fascia with quality mahogany drawer boxes. Each drawer dressed with brass drop handles on pierced backplates. Inset brass lined locks adorn each fascia — untested, key absent. Lowest in deep 'cot drawer' form, opening within the front apron.
