Description
This handsome large English overmantel mirror is a most impressive piece of grand scale dating from around 1870. The carved giltwood frame has cabled detail with carved and gilded scrolls to the base. This has its original gilt finish with a nice aged antique patina. The rectangular mirror has dimensions of 160cm in height by 162 cms in width overall, to the extremities of the piece (base).
The body of the mirror is 133 cms wide.
The large glass mirror is the original 3/8” mercury plate which is excellent clean condition, quite remarkable for its age.
A fine and imposing piece that makes a striking addition to any room.
