This large convex Regency Mirror is in great condition, untouched with all the adornments of the period. The Mirror is itself is circa 1820 with a large convex centre plate and wooden frame.
The convex Centre plate has a wide refractory aspect, the reflectivity of these convex centre plates is excellent and initially they were designed to reflect light back into any room.
The ball adornments set around the convex plate are adornments from the period and have continued to be a staple design of these Mirrors. This style of mirror is known as Girandole, a term that has been applied to all convexed Mirrors of the period.
This Mirror is in very good condition for its age, there are some age related marks on the centre plate which is not unusual and does not detract, rather enhances the appearance, there are no deep scratches or nibbles.
In essence, this is a stunning period piece that is as much a mirror as a decorative feature that would grace any living space.
