Late 19th Century French Champleve & Gilt Bronze Large Table Mirror

This beautiful and well-proportioned French Champleve and gilt bronze table mirror is oval in shape and features very ornate detailing around the top and bottom of the piece. The enamelling is predominately blue and cream, and also has a ring for hanging as well as a very decorative stand for the back. It measures 33 cms in height and 22 cms deep with a width of 22 cms. This striking piece would make a fantastic accent piece for many different rooms in the home. Champlevé enamel is a decorative technique where recessed cells (troughs) are carved, etched, or cast into a metal surface—typically copper or bronze—and filled with vitreous enamel before being fired and polished.
