Description
A very pretty small creamware teacup and saucer, nicely decorated with rich enamels of a stylised rose spray, often known as the King's Rose pattern. The handle has been grooved with a little kick at the lower terminal. c.1785.
measurements
The cup measures 8cm (3 1/8") rim to rim and 5cm (2") high. The saucer is 11.8cm (4 5/8") wide.
declaration
The Fancy Fox has clarified that the Lovely Creamware Pottery Cup & Saucer King's Rose Pattern c.1785 (LA555176) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being c.1785
condition
In very good condition: there is a very small nick/chip to the inside rim of the saucer and a small chip to the foot of the cup. There are two scratches to the saucer from manufacture, the deeper one was painted over with the rose but the enamel clearly didn't take fully. No repair or restoration. Minor handling wear, there is a slight roughness to the cup rim at one small section to the right of the handle and a very light band of discolouration just below.
