Magnificent French Antique Late 19th Century Bronze Statue, 'captivity', Jean Louis Gregoire

Classic French antique (late 19th Century) bronze statue, 'Captivity', by Jean Louis Gregoire (1840-1890). A patinated bronze sculpture of a young boy trimming the wings of a dove. Beautifully modelled and cast. Signed on the base ‘Gregoire’. Superb condition and patina. Jean-Louis Gregoire was a Parisian sculptor working in the 19th Century. He trained under the celebrated sculptor Jean Jules Salmson at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and his work was first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1867. Gregoire is particularly noted for his bronze and marble sculptures and figures.
