Outstanding 19th Centry Engraved Claret Jug Inspired by Owen Jones c.1870

This is a superb and very unusual 19th Century antique glass claret jug which has a stunning ornate silver-plated lid and handle. The main body has been beautifully engraved with Egyptian lotus buds and papyrus and was almost certainly inspired by designs from Owen Jones and his book "The Grammer of Ornament" where you can see this pattern on pages 56 and 57. Part of a large exclusive private collection of 19th and 20th century glass, brought together over many years, that Exhibit will be presenting over the coming months. Date & Origin:- England, c1870.
