Painting by Waller Hugh Paton (RSA, RSW) Highland Scene

"Loch Venachar and Ben Venue" is a delightful small watercolour painting by the distinguished Victorian painter Waller Hugh Paton (1828-1895). Paton was one of the few of his generation to work "en plain air" the fashion then being to complete landscapes in the comfort of a studio. He was also known to often incorporate small figures into his works. Hugh Waller Patons paintings are found in private and civic collections, not least the National Galleries of Scotland. This small watercolour is typical of Hugh Waller Patons Scottish landscape work and on close inspection the figure of a man walking his dog is visible.
