This is a stunning pair of Chinese white crackle glaze immortals of Lohan, dating to the Qing period. 1644-1911
Lohan is the Chinese name, Arhat is the Sanskrit and Rakan the Japanese. They were chosen by the Buddha to remain in this world as immortals, in order to preserve the teachings and help all sentient beings. Each Lohan is depicted seated on a rock holding a different attribute.
