Description
This is a pair of small antique elephant bookends. An Anglo-Indian, ebony and bone carved animal novel or book rest, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1890.
Graced with copious character and appeal for the reader. Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout. Deftly carved ebony presents deep hues and fine grain interest. Tusks and toe detail in a contrasting warm cream hue. It is of diminutive size, ideal for storing novels upon a wall shelf or within a cabinet
