This is an Edwardian, hand-blown, thistle-engraved, cut glass champagne glass dating from the early 20th century, c1910. The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the base of the foot commensurate with some 100 years of use. The glass has a trumpet-shaped bowl measuring 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is engraved with a band of five tall thistles above a band of panel cutting and a diamond cut base which appears to have been formed by a second gather of glass. The bowl sits on an annular knop, and a plain stem with a basal collar. The stem leads to a plain foot which also measures 7.2 cm (2.9 inches) in diameter and displays a polished out pontil mark to the base. The glass is 16.2 cm (6.5 inches) in height. There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration. It is made from lead metal weighing in at 290 g. (~ 10 oz.).
