This listing is for a large pair of hand drawn ink Silhouettes of probably a Husband and probably his Wife in their Sunday best. The gentleman shown in full figure with top hat and tailed coat, with his wife in a bonnet carrying a small bag, dating to the middle of the 19th Century. Each silhouette is presented behind glass with a gild wood surround in an ebonised frame and fitted with a hanging ring to the top. THE SILHOUETTES WERE NOT REMOVED FROM THEIR FRAMES FOR PHOTOGRAPHY SO HAVE REFLECTIONS, WHITE MARKS AND SHADOWS REFLECTED IN THE GLASS.
Celia Rose Antiques has clarified that the Park of Large Ink Silhouette of Husband and Wife in Ebonised Frames (LA332126) is genuinely of the period declared with the date/period of manufacture being 1850
In good antique condition, some foxing on each background, chips and dings to the frames all commensurate with age and handling, some scratches to the glass with the glass covering the wife original with swirls and layers evident.
