Description
Following the discovery of a heavy silver bottle holder/sleeve that nicely fitted a white truffle oil bottle, we then happened upon this more ornate example of a bottle sleeve.
The sleeve has two flat sides, implying there were likely several more bottles in an assemblage, either as a linear cruet or a dining table centre. However, this sleeve comes with a bottle that although clearly made for each other is now slightly loose.
It has been suggested that this bottle sleeve may have been for scent bottle, the fitting possibly seated into the bottle with a cork or similar. As yet our research has not turned up anything to clarify this, so it is sold as is seen.

This sleeve/holder is in great condition, with clear hallmarks [excepting the mis-struck makers mark] to the side. As identified above the bottle is a little loose, but clearly meant to go with the sleeve. It has several bubble inclusions and a chip to the base of one of the flat faces. However, as this is covered by the Sleeve it has no impact on the aesthetic or practicality of the bottle and sleeve combination.
